 Digit predicted Micro Four Thirds System : Remember last year where we linked to the publication of Kai Thon, test manager of DIWA Awards and managing the DIWA Labs? Kai published an article about the possible development of a digital SLR camera without mirror box. After reading that article I did remember a conversation with one of the engineers of a certain brand that is member of the digital camera industry. He was just thinking out loud and stated "why would we keep the concept of a SLR camera like it is now? We now have the change of changing the basic ideas of a system camera, so …". And indeed, the digital SLR camera today is more or less the same concept as an analogue camera some decades ago. Micro Four Thirds System it is!

Olympus Imaging and Panasonic are expanding the potential of the Four Thirds System standard even further, enabling the development of radically more compact and lightweight interchangeable lens type digital camera systems based on the Micro Four Thirds System standard. While continuing to develop Four Thirds System interchangeable lens type digital camera system products, Panasonic will also develop a new generation of compact, lightweight, interchangeable lens type digital camera system products, including ultra-portable camera bodies, interchangeable lenses, and related system accessories.
