FujiFilmFujifilm FinePix S8000fd digital Megazoom camera review : A number of manufacturers have dropped their Megazoom models to make room for the entry level digital SLR cameras. On the one hand that is very understandable since the prices of both models are almost alike, but on the other hand; a Megazoom camera is an entirely different concept than a system camera such as the DSLR. Fujifilm however has not much of a choice in this because they don’t have the entry level SLR camera in their assortment which leaves sufficient room to fill the gap to the S5 Pro DSLR with a Megazoom camera like the Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd. The Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd has to compete directly with cameras like the Olympus SP-560 UZ and the Panasonic Lumix FZ18. Read our Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd review.

Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd - 8 Megapixel CCD sensor
The Fujifilm S8000fd camera has a compact form factor and offers many setting possibilities for the advanced photographer. The 8 Megapixel sensor is a standard CCD and not the famous Super CCD sensor this time. The 1/2.35 inch size of the sensor shows the difference with the sensor used for a level entry digital SLR camera. A DSLR carries a larger sized sensor and that will obviously offer some technical advantages. Naturally the compact size and the extremely extensive focus range speak in favour of the Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd.

Fujifilm S8000fd - Advanced Megazoom camera
The most remarkable feature of Fujifilm’s new Megazoom camera is its dual stabilization technology; the image sensor shift technology combined with the use of high ISO settings. The Fujifilm S8000fd is an advanced Megazoom camera trying to reach the advanced photographer. Well, the specifications look good; the camera offers numerous applications and setting possibilities to perform all-round photography. The zoom range of 27 - 486mm offers the landscape photographer the perfect focal length to create a wide effect.

Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd review
The bottom of the Fujifilm S8000fd camera offers a compartment for four AA batteries. The choice for AA batteries is money-saving for the consumer. The handgrip carries the memory card compartment, with a dual card slot, at the bottom. Fujifilm seem to slowly say goodbye to the xD and make room for the SD and SDHC cards. I have had the Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd in the office for a while and by means of an extensive practice test I have come to a conclusion about this camera that can be read in the following Fujifilm S8000fd review.
