Canon maintains market position in Western Europe

 Canon maintains top market position in Western Europe : Independent research undertaken by analyst house, InfoSource, has confirmed that Canon Europe, world leader in digital imaging technology, has maintained its position as number one brand in the printer/copier marketplace in Western Europe. In 2006, a host of device launches, including a family of next generation four-drum colour office machines (iR C4580i, iR C4080i, iR C3380/i and iR C2880/i), enabled the company to achieve leading brand status for market-share in the colour and colour-capable, as well as the monochrome device segments. InfoSource figures prove Canon’s leading brand status for monochrome and colour/colour-capable multifunctional printers (MFPs).

 Western Europe market position
Impressive pedigree of being named leading brand remains unbroken for 11 years in monochrome segment and a strong 2006 means that Canon has been the leading colour and colour-capable brand for nine of last 11 years. According to the research, Canon has a 15.9% market-share in the black-and-white segments, by brand, and accounts for nearly a fifth of sales in the colour and colour-capable segments with a market-share of 18.5% - ahead of any other brand in both categories. While in the aggregated black-and-white plus colour and colour-capable segments, Canon maintained its position as overall leading brand with a market-share of 16.5% - more than 3% ahead of its nearest competitor.
Canon monochrome products
Canon has an impressive pedigree of being named as the leading brand in Western Europe. The company has been awarded number one position for its monochrome products every year since 1996, while it has achieved the same top-brand status in the colour and colour-capable segments for nine of the past 11 years. The research also underlined the strength of the company’s product portfolio. Canon’s iR 2016 (16ppm office device), which launched last March, was named as the best-selling black-and-white multifunctional model, and the company’s iR 2270 and iR 1510 also featured in a list of the top-ten monochrome machines in 2006. In colour, Canon had three of the top-ten best selling multifunctional devices - the iR 2570 Ci, iR 3170 Ci and iR C2620N.

As a business we remain absolutely committed to retaining leading position for 2007 with further products this year. This commitment is underlined by the fact that Canon Inc. consistently invests around 10% of its non-consolidated net sales into research and development.”
